The Broccoli Broccoli is another historical product of the CODMA OP, it is mainly cultivated in the province of Foggia the near the lakes of Lesina and Varano traditionally perfect territory for its cultivation placed partly inside the Gargano National Park. Thanks to the particular climate mitigated by the sea, a product of excellent quality is obtained.
The cultivation program of the broccoli is predominantly wintry but it also interests warmer periods of the year. Known are its health qualities and its importance in the prevention of numerous cancers (colon, breast etc.) thanks to its content of isothiocyanates, glucosynates, (antioxidants) vitamin C and fibres.
